(BEIJING, January 2) -- John Stephen Akhwari was in Beijing Wednesday afternoon to film the final scenes for the music video for "Hero," an Olympic song. Akhwari, a hero from the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City and the inspiration for the song, worked with singer Chris Yu.

The material for "Hero" comes from Akhwari's moving experience in the 1968 Olympic Marathon. After the 19km mark, he stumbled and fell, severely injuring his right leg. But this hero from Tanzania did not quit. With simple bandaging and a lot of determination, he completed the race.

Akhwari's words after the race exemplify the spirit of the Olympics: "My country did not send me from 7,000 miles to start a race; they sent me to finish the race."

The music video recaptures the historical moment when Akhwari finished the race.
