(BEIJING, January 3) -- Capital International Airport, Beijing's gateway to the world, conducted a comprehensive drill on Thursday to improve services for the Paralympic Games.
The mock entry and exit passage, the largest drill ever at the airport to upgrade its service capabilities for persons with a disability, proceeded in line with the requirements of the Paralympic Games, Xinhua reported, quoting an airport official as saying.
Sixty international travelers, including 40 wheelchair users, 10 persons with a visual disability and 10 assistants, were on center stage in the drill. The use of accessible toilets and wheelchairs as well as the application of emergency-response measures were among the items practiced.
The China Disabled Persons' Federation, the airport team of the Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the XXIX Olympiad (BOCOG), the Frontier Inspection Station, the Customs Office, the quarantine inspection unit, and the airport itself participated in the training.
